TTIS and VAANI Essay Challenge

ESSAY COMPETITION ORGANISED BY VAANI IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE TELEGRAPH IN SCHOOLS

Let’s end 2011 on a real high!

As the eventful year comes to a close, VAANI, Deaf Children’s Foundation proposes to hold an essay competition among the school children of Kolkata. The topic for the competition is “Deaf…So What?”

The objective of organising this competition is to encourage children to think about childhood and deafness. With the idea of inclusive schools gaining momentum in our times, we feel it necessary for children to recognise and understand the effects of being deaf. VAANI is looking to create an enabling environment for deaf children to be included in the world around them. In order to do this, it is very important for their peers to be sensitive to the cause of childhood deafness.

VAANI is looking to give visibility to this ‘invisible’ handicap through a ‘children for children’ approach. We invite your participation in the competition and ask for your support in helping us spread awareness about our cause.
