Status of Deaf Children in Mizoram – A VAANI Seminar

VAANI Deaf Children’s Foundation has been working in partnership with reputed organisations to provide services for deaf children in the Northeast. The need for a detailed needs analysis about the status of deaf children and their families was felt in each of the States where VAANI was running projects,  as there is very little documented data available about the status of deaf children and the services provided to them by NGOs, individuals and Government agencies.

This report is VAANI’s attempt to fill this huge lacuna for accurate documented data. We hope that this document will be a comprehensive reference point for all individuals and organisations that require information about services for deaf children in Mizoram.

A seminar was organised at the Information & Public Relations Auditorium, Treasury Square, Aizawl, on 15 June 2012 from 10 am to 2 pm, to share the findings of this study. Honourable Chief Minister  of Mizoram Shri Lal Thanhawla graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and launched the report.

VAANI has partnerships in the State with two NGOs, Spastic Society of Mizoram and Ferrando Integrated Women Development Centre (Peace Home).
